UK-first · AI call assistant

Never ring unanswered.

Dead Ringer is your stand-in on the phone. It answers the calls you can't take, and makes the calls you'd rather not — in a warm British voice that sounds like home.

Works with your existing UK number No SIM swap Bea & Alfie, your voices

No. 01 How it works Onboarding takes about a minute

Forward once. Then forget it.

Dead Ringer works on the number you already have. A standard carrier divert sends no-answer and busy calls to your assistant — your phone still rings first, so you keep every call you want.

1.

Arm the divert

Dial one code, once. No SIM swap, no new number, no app needed for the forwarding itself — and one code switches it back off.

**61*<your number>*11*20#
2.

Take the calls you want

Your phone rings first. Pick up and it's a normal call. Let it ring out, and Bea or Alfie answers — politely, briefly, in plain English.

3.

Get the gist

The moment the call ends, a summary lands on your phone: who rang, what they wanted, what happens next. Urgent callers can be put straight through.

No. 02 What it does Two voices, one job: your calls

It answers. It calls. It reports back.

Answer

Answers for you

When you can't pick up, your assistant takes a proper message: name, number, business, urgency. Callers you've marked as VIP are offered a transfer straight to your phone.

Call

Makes the calls

Bookings, reschedules, chasing. Give it the goal and the facts; it plans the call, dials, waits on hold, and gets it done — announcing itself as your assistant.

Report

Reports back

Transcript, summary and any bookings are waiting on your phone when you surface. Nothing to remember, nothing to chase, nothing lost in a voicemail box.

What's on the card

Dead Ringer is a stand-in, not a switchboard. It handles the calls a good PA would: taking a message, booking the table, chasing the plumber. And it tells anyone who asks that it's an AI — no pretending, ever.

No. 03 The voices Tuned on real phone lines, not studio monitors

Meet Bea & Alfie.

Two voices, both English RP, both with a proper phone manner: warm, brisk, unflappable — and never gushing. Pick a voice when you join; switch any time.

Bea

Female RP · England

Warm and brisk. Bea runs the diary, takes the message and never lets a caller feel like a nuisance — even the ones who are.

Sounds like

“Hello, Sam's phone — Bea speaking. He can't take your call just now. May I take a message?”

Bea will always own up to being an AI — and won't be offended if you ask.

Alfie

Male RP · England

Light and unflappable. Alfie does the hold music, the booking lines and the chasing — cheerfully, and without ever losing his temper on your behalf.

Sounds like

“Good morning — Alfie here, calling on Sam's behalf. I'm after a table for two on Friday, if you can fit us in.”

If it's a robot on the line, he says so in one short sentence — then carries on.

A note on honesty: Dead Ringer never pretends to be you. Every call opens with the assistant introducing itself, and if anyone asks whether they're speaking to a machine, the answer is a plain yes. That's built in, not a setting.

No. 04 Trust Built for British phones and British manners

Charm on the phone. Boring on the details.

Honest by design

It will never claim to be human and never impersonates you. If a caller asks, it says it's your AI assistant — plainly, in one sentence.

Your number stays yours

Conditional forwarding, not porting. No SIM swap, no downtime, no change for anyone who calls you — and one code cancels it.

UK-first infrastructure

British voices, UK telephony, and UK/EU data residency on the roadmap. Your calls are for running your life — not for training someone's model.

Blocked where it matters

Banks, HMRC, medical and legal calls are routed straight to you. It will never take payments, agree to charges or give out your details.

Transcript-first

Callers are told when a call is being noted, recordings are off by default, and every summary is yours to keep — or delete.

No marketing, ever

Outbound calls are yours — errands, bookings, chasing. Dead Ringer will not cold-call or sell, and it can't be used to.

No. 05 The name From the turf, via the telephone

“A dead ringer was a horse swapped in to run another's race — a stand-in so exact the bookies couldn't tell.”

A ringer was a horse secretly substituted for another at the track; a dead ringer was one so alike it could pass unseen. The bookmakers took a dim view. The phone books, ever since, have used the same phrase for an exact double.

That's the job: your double on the phone. Same manners, same English, same you-ness where it counts — without the earache of another hour on hold.

No. 06 Questions Straight answers, as promised

The things people actually ask.

Does it pretend to be human?

No. If anyone asks outright, Bea or Alfie says yes — it's an AI assistant — in one short sentence, then gets on with the job. It never claims to be you and never invents facts about you.

Do I need to change my number?

No. Dead Ringer uses your existing number via a standard carrier divert. Your phone rings first; only the calls you don't take go to the assistant. You can switch the divert off at any time with one code.

Which networks does forwarding work on?

No-answer and busy diverts are standard GSM and work on EE, O2, Vodafone, Three and the larger MVNOs. A few smaller networks restrict forwarding — we'll check yours before you switch anything on.

What won't it do?

It won't touch banks, HMRC, medical or legal calls — those are routed to you. It won't take payments, agree to charges, or discuss anything you've marked private. And it will never make marketing calls: not for us, not for anyone.

What does it cost?

Pricing is announced at launch — a simple monthly plan, nowhere near a human PA's day rate. Email for early access and you'll hear first.

What happens to my data?

Call summaries and transcripts live in your account and are yours to delete; recordings are off by default. Callers are told their message will be passed to you. The full detail is in the privacy notice.

When can I use it?
